Aging is a natural and inevitable process. Fortunately, aging doesn’t have to be beauty’s antagonist. By properly caring for your skin, you can age gracefully and age well.

The best makeup tip hands down, aging or not, is to throw away all makeup products that are considered toxic. Read the ingredient labels on the products you’re currently using—you may be surprised at how many toxic products you’re applying to your skin on a daily basis. Click here for our list of toxic ingredients commonly used in lipstick and other cosmetics.

When choosing your makeup products, look for labels such as "natural makeup," "all natural makeup," or "organic makeup." Other great indicators (also found with W3LL PEOPLE products) include carbon-free, cruelty-free, chemical-free and paraben-free. Even if the packaging claims that the product is natural, read the label to make sure that it is indeed pure and does not contain any toxins. Some labels can be misleading.

Another great tip is to steam your face daily and exfoliate 2-3 times a week. Steaming skin in combination with exfoliating promotes circulation, cleanses pores, and assists in the production of new (and youthful looking) skin cells.

Most importantly, moisturize daily. Use a non-toxic moisturizer with SPF. Apply generously and often. The only way to keep your skin beautiful and youthful, no matter what your skin type, is to keep it hydrated and moisturized. Sun protection is without a doubt one of the most important elements of your anti-aging regimen, so make sure that all products applied to your skin offer some level of protection from the sun’s rays. W3LL PEOPLE’s natural mineral makeup is the best sunscreen solution to wear over a nourishing hydrator, giving you a higher anti-aging concentration in your skin care routine.

Makeup choices and application are also essential for aging well:

Concealer: If your intention is to cover imperfections, choose a concealer that matches your complexion. You can also choose a shade that’s a little lighter than your skin tone if you want to brighten the area around your eyes. Use a small concealer brush for application (and to help your W3LL PEOPLE Narcissist or Universalist Stick last longer) around the eye and on all skin discolorations.

Stick or Cream Foundation: Choose a natural mineral foundation such as W3LL PEOPLE’s Narcissist stick that matches your décolleté or shoulders. A foundation color should encompass the “big picture” when it comes to color matching so that your face color blends seamlessly with the rest of your body.

Mineral Powder Foundation: Choose a shade that matches your “big picture” complexion. Apply with a basic foundation brush or Kabuki brush for flawless coverage. When choosing your application brush, take bristle texture into consideration. A soft bristle will offer less coverage than a stiff bristle.

Translucent Powder: The use of translucent powder should depend on your skin type and preferred foundation type. For oily skin, choose a mineral setting such as Realist X to combat shine and color oxidation. If you use cream foundation, apply a mineral setting powder to “set” the cream finish for longer wear.

There’s aging, and then there’s aging well. Adding natural products to your makeup arsenal will help your skin maintain that healthy, youthful glow you love.
